Skills MP and HP Consumption

In the world of Lineage 2, pretty much all Skills consume some MP or HP to be used, even releasing arrows consumes 11 of MP, and the only exception are normal physical attacks, so it's very important to understand about it for the olympiad, since we can't use potions inside the arena to recover these resources. This way, learning how to control them is a fundamental part to increase your win rate in the olympiad battles.

MP Consumption

There is a special mechanic for the MP consumption on skills, which happens on two stages, being the first one when the skill starts to cast (low MP consume), and the second one when the skill finishes (maximum MP consume). Despite of this, buffs, skills and itens that reduce or increase the MP consumption works for the total MP consumption, considering both moments, but there are three kinds of MP consumption variables for buffs, which are Physical MP Consumption, Magical MP Consumption and Dance/Song MP Consumption.

Earring of Antharas

This is the only epic jewel that affects the MP consumption, reducing 5% of MP consumption for all skills. This effect is included in the jewel's passive skill, so you need only to equip for it to work.

MP Consumption Buffs

There are a few buffs that can reduce the MP consumption, starting by Spirit of Sagittarius (self buff for the archer classes: Sagittarius, Moonlight Sentinel and Ghost Sentinel) that reduces 30% of the Physical Skill MP Consumption, Clarity (Eva's Saint) that reduces 10% of MP Consumption for all skills and three more songs, which are buffs from the Sword Muse class.

Song of Meditation reduces 10% of MP Consumption for Magical skills, Song of Champion reduces 20% of MP Consumption for Physical Skill, Song of Renewal reduces 5% of MP Consumption for all skills, and all these five buffs can be used simultaneously.

Item Skills: Clarity

You can also find augment skills to reduce the MP Consumption, and they are available on active and passive augments, so you can use both at the same time if the server has the Active+Passive augment configuration. There are four kinds of them, according to their respective MP Consume, they are: Clarity (for all skills), Skill Clarity (for physical skills), Spell Clarity (for magical skills) and Music Clarity (for dance and song skills). I can't tell their exact value, but it's something from 5% to 10% usually, and all of them are suposed to decrease the same percentage.

Toggle Skills

These skills have a fixed MP consumption over time while they are activated, and they consume this value until you deactivate them. Each of these skills have their own MP consumption and respective time this fixed value gets consumed, and it you don't deactivate them it will consume your MP until it runs out.

Arcane Toggles

These toggle skills are a little different, they consume MP only to be activated at first, but when they are kept activated, they consume HP over time instead of MP. Despite of this difference, they also change the user's MP consumption, in the case of the Arcane Agility and Arcane Power, they increase the Magical MP Consumption to compensate their other bonuses, while the main function of the Arcane Wisdom is to decrease the Magical MP Consumption. Arcane Agility and Arcane Power increases the MP Comsumption by +10%, while Arcane Wisdom decreases the MP Consumption by -30%.

MP Consumption Debuffs

There are only two debuffs for the MP Consumption, which are the Arcane Chaos (Archmage, Mystic Muse and Storm Screamer) that increases 30% of Magical Skills MP Consumption and 10% of Physical Skills MP Consumption, and the Magical Backfire (Cardinal) that increases 200% of Physical and Magical Skills MP Consumption.

Cost Skills Enchantment

Another way to decrease your skills MP consumption is to enchant them for the Cost path, though not all of them may get this enchantment, this option is better for skills with a higher MP Cost, such as 100 of MP or more, otherwise the difference will be too low and the other enchantment path might be better.

HP Consumption

As I said in the beginning, there are some skills that consumes HP instead of MP, and there are some that even consumes both of them at the same time. These skills are mostly physical, examples of them are the Touch of Death, Punch of Doom and Sacrifice. Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to reduce the HP Consumption, so learning the right time to use these skills is a little harder, but with time and practise you'll get good at it too.
