Clothing Sets
This is the most important thing you need to learn for going in the olympiad, wearing the right clothes at the right situation increases drastically your winning rate. If you watch any of my videos observing my clothes, you will see that I change it all the time, and the reason is their bonuses and status, which changes a lot depending on the clothing set you are wearing.
There are many clothing sets in the Lineage 2, but for the Interlude olympiad we use mostly the S and A Grade sets, so from lower grades I will show only the necessary ones. The clothing sets are separated in three divisions, being the Heavy Armors the ones with higher Physical Defense and life status, the Light Armors that has a middle Physical Defense with higher evasion rate and a few attack attributes, and the Robe ones that has the lowest Physical Defense, but focus on the magical status for magicians, like increasing MP, casting speed and Magical Attack.
Heavy armors are mostly used by tankers and fighter classes, except by dagger and archers, they usually wear the light armors, and the robe sets are most used by the magicians, whoever they may be used by fighters to start a fight with more MP sometimes too. These aren't rules, and in the olympiad we may use all the three kinds of set in a fight, so it's very ocasional depending on what you need at that moment, and of course your class too.
S Grade Clothing Sets
S grade clothing sets are the ones with strongest P. Def. and usually the hardest to get, but they are just three, being one of each division, check all their attributes bellow.

Here in the A Grade clothing sets we get a lot more options, being four sets for each division, by four different brands that are Dark Crystal, Tallum, Nightmare and Majestic sets. Pay attention that for sets with the same brand, there is only one helmet for the three divisions.

B Grade Clothing Sets
Most of the B Grade clothing sets aren't used in the olympiad, but there is four brands just as the A Grade sets, also having one set for each division. The four brands are Avadon, Blue Wolf, Doom and Zubei sets, and just like the A Grades, you must wear the same helmet for the three divisions. Unless it's a very low rate server, you won't need them, except by the Doom Heavy Set.

C Grade Clothing Sets
C Grade clothing sets are a little different, they have unique brands for different divisions, and some of them are completed with only two or three pieces. Still, the only one that you might want to use at the olympiad is the Plated Light set, if you are a fighter.

Plated gets completed with chest, pants and boots only, gloves and helmet aren't needed.
Shields
Shields does't increase the physical defense itself, they decrease your evasion by -8 points, but give you the ability to completely or partially neutralize some physical attacks. The shield defense changes a lot from servers to server, and some skills can't be stopped by them, like a Triple Sonic Slash. Usually it works only against physical damage, but at some Java servers they might work against magical skills too, so it's something you should test where you play.
Warnings
The total Physical Defense value from these sets were calculated with them unsealed and without enchantment. It's purpose is only to compare their P. Def. between all of them, so this could give you a better understanding about their atributes. This value is only the sum of all parts, it doesn't mean it will increase exactly that, since there are other factors in a character's P. Def. calculation.
The set bonuses are applied only if all set pieces have been unsealed, also as you can see, the clothing sets gives a few basic status too, and to keep a certain balance, most of them also reduce the same value on another basic status, so be careful with this, because they influence a lot on your abilities. If you don't remember about what they do, check the list bellow:
- STR (Strength): Increases your physical attack, physical skills critical rate and Skill Mastery chance for fighters.
- INT (Intelligence): Increases your magical attack, success rate of curses/debuff skills (by increasing your M. Atk.) and Skill Mastery Chance for magicians and healers.
- DEX (Dexterity): Increases your attack speed, physical critical rate, accuracy, evasion, speed, success rate of shield defense and blow skills (daggers). Since it increases your attack speed, it also reduces physical skills reuse time.
- WIT (Wisdom): Increases your casting speed, magical critical chance, hold/slow debuffs resistance, and some curses resistance related with HP regeneration and HP regeneration rate, such as Seal of Disease and Scourge. Since it increases your casting speed, it also reduces magical skills reuse time.
- CON (Constitution): Increases your maximum HP/CP, HP regeneration rate, stun, shock, and bleeding resistance, breath underwater and your weight limit.
- MEN (Mentality): Increases your magical defense, maximum MP, MP recovery rate, poison/curses resistance and decreases the chance of your magical casting skills being interrupted.
