Private Servers Configurations

The Interlude Chronicle from Lineage 2 wasn't officially released by NC Soft for everyone to use and create their own server, but some players liked it so much that they found a way (I don't know how) to reproduce this chronicle and because of this many private servers were created since the release of the Interlude Chronicle on 2006/2007.

Because these private servers aren't usually using the source code originally made by NC Soft for the game, we can see many differences on the configuration between all of them, like some skills that doesn't work as they should be, and because of this some skills even get useless in some servers, since it's a waste of time using something that has a 10% success rate chance, especially inside the olympiad.

This way, we players have two classifications for Interlude private servers configurations, being Lineage 2 PTS (or Lineage 2 Off) and Lineage 2 Java.

L2 PTS Configurations

Most called as Lineage 2 PTS or Lineage 2 Off, these servers are the ones that tries to be the most identical to the Interlude Chronicle originally released by NC Soft, and because of this they have a better gameplay, because most skills work correctly. Yet, there are servers that claim themselves as being Lineage 2 PTS but they are nothing alike, so be be aware of this.

Usually, these servers use this information on their disclosure, because it attracts more players, so you must check the website and see if they talk about it. If they don't, probably it is a Java server, but a easy way to know if it is Lineage 2 PTS is just after a restart has been made to the server, because the monsters will come back only after 5 or 10 minutes to the hunting zones.

L2 Java Configurations

In the case of Lineage 2 Java servers, they also try to be a little similar to the official Interlude Chronicle, but the bigger problem is the skills configurations, a lot of them doesn't work, and whem it works, they work different than how they should be, or with a very higher duration time. Because of this, when we play in L2 Java we have to change our strategies very often because frenquently there is some bug on an augment or skill.

For this reason I don't like to play these kind of servers myself, but lately almost all servers are Java platform, since a Lineage 2 Off revision is more difficult for the administrators to operate and has a very higher price than Java.

Why Does It Matter?

Well, it matters because the gameplay inside the olympiad is completely different from one to another, so if you want to learn how to fight at the olympiad you must understand that each server that you go will be a little or everything different. So if you don't know exactly what is the server that you are playing, you better watch a little bit the olympiad before you play it.

Main Differences

Check in the following list some differences between Lineage 2 Off and Java configurations:

  • whoeverOn some Java servers magical attack influences the heal power while on official it doesn’t.

  • On some Java servers shield works even for magical skills, but it shouldn’t.

  • On some Java servers Warrior Bane and Mage Bane works even on Celestial Shield/Sonic and Focus Barrier, this configuration is applied only on further chronicles.

  • On some Java servers you can’t use any buff/self buff during Celestial Shield/Sonic and Focus Barrier, however, self buffs should work on all of them.

  • On some Java servers damage made through reflect damage counts as normal damage, which makes a few chance augments works with a higher rate than they should.

  • On some Java servers Mana Burn does critical damage, there’s no such thing on Interlude.

  • On most Java servers almost all debuff augments doesn’t work, it’s a waste of time.

There are many, but I just wanted to list some to show what are the impacts on the gameplay that these differences on the configurations might bring.
