Resistances

Resistances are variables that highly influences the negative efffect skills chance and magical damage, and there are many of them in Lineage 2, so if you want to use them corectly, you need to understand what kind of skill's each one of them influences, so you can use the correct itens and buffs to strengthen your debuff and elemental resistances. Remember that the skill success rate also depends on other things, like the skill chance, enchantment and basic status points, so the resistances are just one part of the skill's success rate and damage equasion, get to know all of them and the main buffs that increases them in the content below.

Shock and Stun Resistance

Stuns are skills that completely let your character defenseless for a short time, and some of them can weaken your defenses as well during the stun time, like Armor Crush and Shock Blast, so this resistance is one of the most important for when you're playing against most fighters. There are many itens and skills that can increase it, such as Resist Shock, Lionheart, War Frenzy and Fortitude, and increasing your CON points will also increase this resistance.

Debuff Resistance

We call debuffs skills that has a negative effect on the opponent, but they aren't considered only debuffs when it comes for the resistance status, because they can be separated in many kinds of debuffs. Still, the debuff resistance works against most magical debuff skills, such as the Seal of Suspension and Seal of Despair, and you can increase it with the Arcane Protection, Chant of Spirit or Pa'agrio's Emblem buff and more MEN points. The buffs Chant of Victory, Magnus Chant, Prophecy of Fire, Prophecy of Water, Prophecy of Wind and Victories of Pa'agrio gives debuff resistance as well.

Cancellation Resistance

Cancel resistance is the variable that works against magical skills that can remove buffs from the opponent, such as Warrior Bane, Mage Bane and Cancellation, but unfortunately there aren't many ways to increase it, except with the buffs Arcane Protection, Chant of Spirit, Magnus Chant, Pa'agrio's Emblem or Lionheart, yet in some servers administrators change them to work 100% anyway.

Hold Resistance

For the Lineage 2 code, everything related to reducing the opponent's speed is considered hold, plus the hold skills itself, so this variable works against physical and magical holds and slow skills, such as Entangle, Slow, Hamstring, Dryad Root, Shackle and Arrest. The main buff to increase this resistance is Mental Shield, which you can get through the buff sticks inside the olympiad or Lionheart, but there are some itens that increases it as well.

Sleep Resistance

Most magicians have at least one skill that can make your character fall asleep for a while, be it Trance, Sleep or Dreaming Spirit, and this is the resistance against them. It can also be increased with Mental Shield, Lionheart and some itens in the game, such as the Nightmare Sets.

Paralysis Resistance

This resistance is very important against human mages like Arcana Lords and Soultakers, because they can completely paralyze you for 8 or 15 seconds with the magic from the Binding Cubic or the Anchor skill, in some servers it can even be 30 seconds if it's not well configured. There is also the Paralyze augment that can work sometimes, so be careful with them, because only the Dark Crystal sets, Frintezza's Necklace and Lionheart buff can increase this resistance.

Derangement Resistance

Derangements are considered the skills that has a kind of psycology effect at the opponent, such as Fears and Silences. This resistance is greatly increased with Mental Shield as well, but there aren't many itens that can increase it.

Poison Resistance

The poison resistance works against magical skills that makes damage over time, such as Freezing Flame, Freezing Shackle, Decay, etc. The only buff that increases this resistance is Resist Poison, but there are many itens that can increase it as well.

Bleed Resistance

Bleed resistance works against wounds made by magical or physical skills, but there aren't many bleeding skills in the game, they are pretty much only Bleed, Sting and Ice Dagger. There is only one buff that increases this resistence too, which is Invigor from the Hierophant, but there are a lot of itens that can do it instead.

Terrain Resistance

This is the resistance against falling from high places, so according to this resistance and the hight that you fall, you will take some damage directly in your HP. You can only increase this resistance through the buffs Dance of Protection and the augment Iron Body (Active and/or Passive).

Breath Resistance

This resistance works only underwater, it controls how long you can stay underwater without having to go up in the surface to breath again, because if you stay too long underwater, you will be taking some damage over time directly on your HP and you might die drowned. The only buff that increases this resistance is Kiss of Eva and the augments with the same name, available as active and passive.
