Weapons Augmentation System
Besides of the Special Abilities, in Lineage 2 weapons may also recieve some addicional status and skills through the augmentation system, which can give you a lot of extra powers, and they make a huge difference in olympiad, sometimes you might even lose a fight just because of one augment that your opponent has and you don't.
In the olympiad we tend to use not just one, but many augments, so for that we need many weapons, since a weapon can't receive more than one augmented skill, and we also need the right augments on the right weapons.
How to Get Them?
To get an augment on your weapon, you must go to a blacksmith carrying a Life Stone and Gemstones from the right grade, then you will find the Augment Item option, which will open the following chat box:
First drag your weapon, then a Life Stone, and the Gemstones for last. The grade and number of gemstones will depend on your weapon's grade, as you can see in the small list below:
C Grade: 20 Gemstones D Grade.
B Grade: 30 Gemstones D Grade.
A Grade: 20 Gemstones C Grade.
S Grade: 25 Gemstones C Grade.
D Grade, No Grade and Hero weapons cannot be augmented.
If you didn't like what you got or it's not useful, you can try again if you have more life stones, but for that you need to cancel the current augmentation first. To cancel the current augment you must go in the option Cancel Item Augmentation, below the last one, which will open another chat box:
Drag your weapon and click remove (this will cost you a small fee for the blacksmith), and after this, just repeat the other one. Since this is very boring and takes a long time to do if you have many life stones, some servers also provide a better augment process on custom Non-Player Characters (NPCs) or in the GM Shop, or you can try to find a better Lineage 2 Interface to ease this process.
Life Stones
Life stones are the itens that will determinate how good the status or skill can be. They start from level 46 and go until level 76, going up on intervals of 3 levels on Interlude (there is no level 73), having also 4 divisions, which are Normal, Mid, High and Top Life Stones and they give a bigger chance to catch item skills in this same order.
The life stone level tells you what level you need to be so you can use it, and they also restrict the weapon's grade that can be used in the augmentation. This way, life stones level 46 and 49 can be used only for C grade weapons, 52 up to 58 on C and B grade, 61 to 70 on C, B and A grade, and level 76 life stones can be used on all C, B, A and S grade weapons.
Besides that, life stone's level also tells you what level the item skill will be if you catch one, since there are skills with 10 levels and others with only 3 levels, where getting higher item skill levels means it's effects will be stronger. So considering the first value for item skills with 10 levels and the second value item skills with 3 levels, you can check the level division in the following list:
Life Stones Level 46: Item Skills Level 1 for both.
Life Stones Level 49: Item Skills Level 2 or Level 1.
Life Stones Level 52: Item Skills Level 3 or Level 1.
Life Stones Level 55: Item Skills Level 4 or Level 1.
Life Stones Level 58: Item Skills Level 5 or Level 2.
Life Stones Level 61: Item Skills Level 6 or Level 2.
Life Stones Level 64: Item Skills Level 7 or Level 2.
Life Stones Level 67: Item Skills Level 8 or Level 2.
Life Stones Level 70: Item Skills Level 9 or Level 2.
Life Stones Level 76: Item Skills Level 10 or Level 3.
Between all item skills, there is only one exception for the Item Skill Celestial Shield, which can be found only as a level 1 skill, and you can catch it with life stones from all the different levels.
The usual ways to obtain life stones is through drop, from normal monsters and from raid bosses too, in the official configuration, but lately many servers are making it more acessible by selling it on GM Shops and donate shops, so you must have a look at the best way to get it where you play.
Status Augmentation
On every augment, there is the chance that you get from one to four status augments, if you don't get an item skill. If you catch an item skill, there will be only one or two status with the item skill. These status can be increasing your Physical Attack, Magical Attack, Physical Defense, Magical Defense, Accuracy, Evasion/Dodge, Physical Critical rate, Maximum CP/HP/MP and CP/HP/MP Recovery Rate/Regeneration.
Limits of Status Augmentation
To all these status that comes within the augmentation, there is a minimum and maximum value that may be obtained, and the maximum values usually comes only from top and high level life stones. You can see these values in the list below:
Physical Attack: +2.2 until +24.2;
Magical Attack: +2.5 until 28.2;
Physical Defense: +5.1 until +38.2;
Magical Defense: +4 until 30.8;
Accuracy: +0.4 until +3;
Evasion/Dodge: +0.4 until +3;
Physical Critical Rate: +4.9 until 32.7;
Maximum CP: +19.2 until +214.9;
Maximum HP: +12.7 until +155.9;
Maximum MP: +6.1 until +115.1;
CP Recovery Rate: +0.1 until +0.8;
HP Recovery Rate: +0.1 until +0.8;
MP Recovery Rate: +0.1 until +0.4;
Doubled Status Augmentation
Most times you will get random 3 or 4 status between all those 13 above, but there is also a chance that two of them come up with the same status, this way you will get the sum from both values, like in the image above. But getting one like in this image is very rare, usually both of them comes with a lesser value than the maximum.
Item Skills Augmentation
Besides of the status augmentation, you also have the chance of getting an Item Skill. They are similar to many skills from the various classes, basically a copy of them, so getting it on your weapon kind of allows you to use these skills on a class that couldn't have that skill. Additionally it comes up with one or two random status augmentation too, you can see all possible item skills in the list from the link below.
